Have a Heart for Service?

…Then pray about serving this April as a short-term missionary at our International Family Retreat in Guatemala. Special-needs families in Guatemala often live in extreme poverty, and they need to know the touch of Jesus – perhaps through someone like you! Take Walter, a short-term missionary who served last year at our International Family Retreat in Guatemala. He was assigned to help Enrique, a 71-year-old stroke survivor who had lost his wife. Enrique was very hardened against God. Walter found him difficult to work with (many times Walter had to leave the activities and simply walk Enrique around the campus). But the young man kept extending kindness and patience, and soon, Enrique's stubborn heart began to melt. He finally came to Jesus Christ, and by the end of Retreat, Enrique was affectionately calling Walter his grandson. Walter learned a powerful lesson about being a true servant. Our next International Family Retreat in Guatemala is coming up in April and we have a need for short-term missionaries like Walter – please consider serving with us today!

Dear Joni and friends, I was touched as I read about Walter and the need for short term missionaries in Guatemala in April. I would love to go and help out, but I just don't have the money to go. I have the time, I lost my job in September. I have been to Alaska 3 times on a mission trip, so I know what a blessing it is to go and do Gods work and share the love of Jesus with others who are struggling. If money was not an issue I would go. I will be praying for this mission. God bless you all, Sharon Walker

I have a very complex interlectual disability that very few people understand; and it is only really my own family (parents and siblings) who have any level of understanding of what my needs are. I would love to go with a suitable support person, but I don't know of anyone who could come with me (if it is God's will for me to go). Please pray for me.

Stories like this just touch my heart. It reminds me of my trip to China when I served as an STM at a JAF family retreat. While there, I realized the great impact God has through STMs. If you have the opportunity, I highly encourage you to serve at a family retreat.

Dear Joni, there is no greater reward for us on earth than to see someone coming to Christ. This evening I had the privilege to see someone coming to Christ in a healing meeting whom I have known for a cou- ple of years. My prayers and my effort to reach her were not in vain! This is an important job we can do for the Lord.It is also responding to our calling to bring the gospel of good News to all people. We can rejoice in the decision Enrique made for Jesus thanks to the efforts of Walter and because of the grace of God.May the Name of Jesus be lifted up for the harvest of souls He is gathe- ring!
