As the month of May comes to a close, we want to thank you for taking the time to follow the Lausanne Conversation on giving the love of Christ to people with disabilities and their families. Your concern on this issue is so important because as followers of Jesus, we all must care about the weak and vulnerable. Life is precious and Jesus Christ, the Prince of Life, the Word of Life, and the Resurrection and the Life has commanded us to treat every person – no matter how disabled or elderly – with dignity and respect. In Joni Eareckson Tada’s closing post, she shares the truth that people with disabilities, no matter how profound their intellectual or physical impairment, are created in the image of God. And even though the month of May is almost over, the conversation on disability ministry will continue as the local church is moved to action. What action will you take? Will you start a disability ministry at your church? Will you volunteer to serve a family affected by disability at a Joni and Friends Family Retreat? Will you bring the Gospel and a wheelchair to someone in need of mobility through Wheels for the World? As Psalm 82:4 instructs, join us in rescuing the weak and needy!
