It’s National Volunteer Week!

When college student Scott signed up to volunteer with Family Retreats, he wasn’t sure what to expect. B.J. — a young man with multiple disabilities from church — had invited Scott, but the two had never really gotten to know each other … that is, until they got to spend one week together at Family Retreat. They had such a blast, and the two really bonded — especially when it came time to climb the climbing wall. B.J. really wanted to climb the wall, but about halfway through, he froze; he panicked! So that’s when Scott put on his harness and, with a big smile and a “You can do it, Buddy,” encouraged B.J. to keep on going — all way to the top of the climbing wall! You just have to see it for yourself. So check out this video of Scott and B.J. at Family Retreat and then share it with your friends in honor of National Volunteer Week. And hey, there are many opportunities to serve with us, so visit our Volunteer page and join us as we serve families affected by disability in the name of Jesus!
