Talent Show Night

Talent Show Night is one of our favorite parts of Family Retreat. It is a time when we get the celebrate and applaud the talents God has given His children affected by disabilities. Recently, we heard an amazing story from Talent Show Night at our International Family Retreat in Serbia that we would love to share:

One of the families who attended the retreat in Serbia, brought their son, Paul. He is a 17-year-old boy, with a big smile, limited verbal language, and autism. Before coming to Family Retreat, Paul and his family were not open to the Gospel message, but as the week unfolded, God began transforming their hearts. The last evening of the retreat was Talent Show Night. To his parent’s surprise, Paul decided to get up and sing a pop song. Paul did not typically like crowds and had never sung before in his life! After Paul finished the pop song, he decided to sing another one. This next song was a Christian worship song that he had only heard one time. Paul sung the lyrics, “There is none like You. No one else can touch my heart like you do. I can search for all eternity, Lord, and find there is none like You.” After finishing his song, he yelled into the microphone, “Hvala ti, Isuse!” which means, “Thank you, Jesus!” in Serbian. Upon experiencing this moment, our in-country partner, Jelena, shared the following words with us:

“I have witnessed all kinds of things at our Family Retreats, but to see a child that barely speaks, doesn’t sing, didn’t grow up going to church, didn’t hear the Gospel, suddenly sing to Jesus and then thank Him in front of a crowd, was a pure miracle that was beyond all my expectations. God is raising up children with disabilities to take his great Gospel into their homes!”

Will you join us in praising God for what He is doing through International Family Retreats this year?
